This was heavily inspired by the cover of G.I. Joe #100. I’ve always preferred Cobra Commander’s hooded mask to the battle helmet, but mostly just because it looks so much more comfortable.
I limited my palette to the 64 colors available on the NES, and, all things considered, I think this one is pretty decent. Having to abstract the Cobra logo in four different ways (background, chest, belt buckle, and sword scabbard) was a fun challenge, as the limited pixel count (this was originally created at 110×170 pixels) prevented me from including too much detail.
Cobra Commander, Cobra, G.I. Joe, and all related characters are owned by Hasbro.
