I got in on this Kickstarter over a year ago: RAVAGE, the first album of all-new music by The Cybertronic Spree!
The Cybertronic Spree are a Transformers Cosplay band from Toronto Cybertron, who began doing covers of the songs from the 1986 Transformers: The Movie soundtrack, before branching out to other 80s and 90s cartoon themes and pop culture songs, including the Ghostbusters song by Ray Parker Jr., Immigrant Song by Led Zeppelin after it appeared in Thor: Ragnarok, and a fun mash-up of the first level from Doom with the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers theme. And, of course, David Hasselhoff’s True Survivor from the film Kung Fury.
But this is all-new music, written by the band!
I opened the mailer envelope and got the CD in a cardboard sleeve, along with something wrapped in newsprint paper? What could that be?
Okay;m, that’s pretty hilarious and a nice extra goodie.
You don’t get to see all the cards. You should’ve supported their kickstarter!
Opened up the CD case, and there was something else folded up in there. What’s THIS, now?
Sick. Metallic stickers! I managed to angle the photo to not reflect anything, but these are VERY shiny. Almost like a mirror.
Inside the CD case gatefold is a photo of the whole band…
… and inside the sleeves on the sides are the liner notes and the disc itself.
Backside of those.
I love that the band just refuse to reveal who they really are. Everything is always done 100% in-character.
Also, Adam F. Goldberg is one of the producers of this album? Like, the guy who made the show, The Goldbergs? That’s pretty dope.
You can find out more about the band on their website, TheCybertronicSpree.com, or listen to some of their (other) tunes on their Bandcamp or YouTube pages.
I don’t know if RAVAGE will be released in any other method? Maybe find them on social media and tell them you want it.
